2015 Spring Training Schedule (updated 12/18/2014)

Spring marathon and half marathon training for the OKC Memorial Marathon will start on 1/3/2015, time & location - TBA.

Also, "The Walking" training program will once again be available. If you are a walker or want to begin running and need help getting started.... This is the group to get involved with! It help you achieve your goal of walking/jogging in the 5k, Relay, Half, or Full Marathon.

Registration/Membership – The training group is a free open service to anyone wanting to train for any aspect of the Marathon Training or just wanting to get some physical activity.  We would love to have any interested runners/walkers join the OKC Running Club as well but it is not required.  We will routinely have membership applications available for those who would like to join the club.  Annual memberships are $20.

Courses - Out & Back and Loop so they can be modified to fit your individual training plan. They are on public streets and paved trails.  Trails - run on the right, streets - run on the left against traffic and obey all traffic signs.  Run at your own risk.

Water Stops – We will have water/sports drink stops at the start/finish area and approximately every 3 miles along the routes.

Water Stop Closing – The water stops will be closed based on a 15 minute per mile pace.  If you can’t finish the course by that time and you need water, we recommend that you start earlier so you can finish before the water stops close or carry water with you. 

Treats to Share – It has been a long standing tradition of this training group that members bring food treats to share with the other runners after the run.  You are welcome to participate in this tradition.  Typically, people bring a homemade loaf of bread, brownies, bagels, fruit, pretzels, or something similar.  If just a few people do this each week there is generally plenty to go around.  So, pick a week and treat your fellow runners!

    Course: Click here for map. Nichols Hills Plaza to Grand Blvd., then take Grand Blvd. to Lake Hefner Parkway Bridge and back for 6 miles.  Half Marathoner will turn at 1.5 miles which is the west side of the OKC Golf & Country Club.

    Course: We will run the South River Trails.  Those doing 6 miles will turn at the 1st water stop just before Exchange Ave Bridge, 12 milers will turn around on the west side of the Portland Ave Bridge - click here for course map.

    Course: Lap around the lake, including Stars and Stripes Loop. Half Marathoner turn around at the 1st water stop for just under 6 miles.

    Location:
    7398 N Portland, Stars & Stripes Park on beautiful Lake Hefner.


    Courses: 25K, 15K & 5K races will take place on USATF certified courses that are primarily on the trails that border Lake Hefner.  The 15K will follow the 25K course and will turn around at the 7.5K mark.  All Courses are out and back.

    Chip Timing
    All races will be chip timed and results will be posted online.

    Awards
    Overall male and female winners:

    Male & Female age group awards will go three deep: 10 & under, 11-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over.

    Packet Pickup
    Packet pickup will be Friday, March 6, from 2-7 PM at Panera Bread, on Northwest Highway across from Integris Hospital. Packets may also be picked up at the race site Saturday morning from 7-8:00am

    Special Accommodations
    If you have a disability for which you need to request an accommodation please refer to the policies and guidelines at  
    www.usatf.org and follow all applicable requirements to obtain consideration. It generally takes six weeks from the receipt of all relevant documentation to evaluate such requests.

    Aid Stations
    The 15 km & 25 km Run will have aid stations approximately every 2.2 miles with fluids and various fuels.

    Port-a-potties
    There will be ample facilities near the start/finish area and by the aid stations. (4K, 7.5K, 11K)
