The Big Chill...

So, what’s a little chilly weather...18 degrees at 7:00 a.m., light winds, and beautiful clear skies for the sunrise. What a great way to kick off marathon training season. Approximately 200 hearty runners and another 50 walkers showed up for Saturday morning’s start of training for the OKC Memorial Marathon. Spirits were too high to be dashed by a little chill in the air. The six miles went by quickly as veteran training group runners warmly welcomed many newcomers. Thomas Hill, III, the co-founder and president of the OKC Memorial Marathon, welcomed the runners with a quick “it’s cold, let’s get started!”. When you see Thomas be sure to thank him for the support that the marathon organization gives our group. They provide all of our supplies. Also present was Sherri Rector who co-founded the training group with her late husband Jack.

As always, the training is FREE and anyone can attend!

Don't forget to check out Mark Bravo's Training Schedules.  You can also contact Mark at www.runbravo.com.

New for this year is the "Walk the Lake" training program. If you are a walker or want to begin running and need help getting started.... This is the group to get involved with! Walk the Lake will help you achieve your goal of walking/jogging in the 5k, Relay, Half, or Full Marathon.

We look forward to another good training season.
