Years ago I would go to the PC North track and do workouts in the early morning. This morning I returned and found it surrounded by a big fence, barbed wire, guards with machine guns...

Is there a decent track in the city that is publicly accessible?

Mitch,
Yea, maps for kids purchase new turf for the football fields and fences to keep out the taxpayers. Oklahoma Christian U on Memorial Road might still be open to the public. Someone also said the Oklahoma City Public School Tracks are still open to the public--try the John Marshall at 122nd and Portland.

Thanks, Prez.
I drove by John Marshall on the way home from work and the track looks decent with no gates/fences. Convenient location for me, also.

Yeah, leave all the football fields, tracks, and school buildings open for the taxpayers. But wait, won't non-taxpayers be able to get in also? Gee, even destroy or steal these things we taxpayers paid for?

Does anyone know if the Putnam City High School Track (5300 Northwest 50th Street) is open to the public?

Also, I'm visiting the area for a few weeks for work, any suggestions on track clubs in the area that do workouts during the week nights?

I'm looking for casual, tempo, or track workouts.

Think PC is original is also closed. Think JM is open. I used to help coach Edmond North Track Club and until recently they used Ed North track! When they got "kicked off" this summer, they began looking for other options. They used OK Christian for a few weeks but then were going to be charged a fee for usage. Now, they are using Casady track for FREE but they got permission, not sure just anyone can use it....I know Mcguinness used to charge around 20 per year for track use. You might see if Edmond North track club is still running although I think the season is about over. Head coach is Travis Pettyjohn and they have a web site.

West Moore High School Has one of the nicest tracks in Oklahoma. It is on the west side of the High School between the baseball stadium and Soccer field. They also have a well groomed football and soccer field that are great for barefoot running and sprints. The address is 12613 South Western Avenue Oklahoma City, OK 73170-6903
